Can I rent your equipment even though I’m not a student at the U?
Yes, we welcome everyone to enjoy the outdoors! You don’t have to be a student to rent equipment from us. Please check our equipment rental page for current options and pricing.
As a student or faculty, do I get a discount?
Yes! Currently enrolled students and faculty/staff who are paying the Campus Recreation fee will receive a 25% discount on all listed prices.
When can I reserve gear?
For most items, reservations can be made starting the week of the rental period. Simply call us on the Monday before your adventure, and we’ll ensure you have the gear you need.
Exceptions:
- Rafts and bikes can be reserved starting the last Monday of March for use anytime during the season until November.
What if I damage the equipment?
If the equipment is damaged upon return, you will be held responsible for the repair or replacement costs. It’s important to check the gear before and after use to ensure everything is in good condition.
What if I’m late on returning gear?
If you’re unable to return the equipment on time, please call ahead and pay for an additional day. If you fail to return the equipment on time without notifying us, you will be charged for the additional day, plus a late fee.
Do you rent out just oar frames or dry boxes?
Unfortunately, we do not rent out oar frames or dry boxes separately. We only offer these items as part of the full raft rental package.
Can I go on one of your trips?

How do I register for an OA Trip?
You can register for a trip by visiting us in person at the George S. Eccles Student Life Center during office hours, or you can register online and pay your deposit via phone with a credit card.
What is a “Cooperative Adventure?”
A Cooperative Adventure is a trip coordinated by our Outdoor Adventures (OA) leaders. On these trips, all participants share in the leadership, planning, and risk management of the journey. Costs are shared equally by all participants.
- Note: These trips are physically demanding, and you must accept the inherent risks involved. Trip sizes are limited, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot.
Each multi-day trip has a pre-trip meeting, and your attendance is strongly encouraged.
What is a class/engagement level?
We categorize our trips based on fitness levels to ensure that everyone can find an adventure suited to their abilities. Here’s a breakdown:
- Introductory: Outdoor learning with minimal fitness requirement; mild activity.
